This is a follow-up to my previous post ‘Why Nothing Changes and How to Change It’. While I was very pleased with the interest it generated and all the positive feedback I received, a comment from a dear friend and reader threw me for a bit of a loop. She suggested that my next post should be about making positive changes. I thought this was an excellent idea (and it is). But writing that post had me stumped – for weeks. Although there was so much I could say, none of it was what I felt in my heart that I wanted to say.
It was all generic advice that was common knowledge and could easily be found elsewhere. Besides, I didn’t think I was qualified to promote those sorts of solutions. They don’t resonate with who I am and how I have chosen to make changes in my life.
So, I wrote page after page and deleted every one. I thought, I sighed and I struggled. This went on, day after day and week after week. And then, the breakthrough came… as it often happens in life, the solution came from something quite unexpected – it materialised as a weird sort of coincidence (I love you synchronicity!).
At the time I wrote the previous post, I was looking to make further changes to my own life. I felt as if I had hit a plateau in terms of making positive changes. I was looking for the next step – and I managed to find it amidst all the confusion of coming up with a suitable follow-up post. It then dawned on me that the solution I’d discovered for myself was the very thing that I needed to offer to my readers!
Now that I’ve identified the direction I’d like to take, it seems that there is a lot of ground to cover – far more than can be done in one post. So, I’d like to do a series of posts on this theme, sharing what I’ve learned so far about making positive changes in life. In fact, I believe that the idea of making positive changes in life could well become the main focus of my future writing, because it is something that I am most passionate about and strive to practise on a daily basis. So stay tuned (and sign up to receive posts by email, if you haven’t done so already – simply enter your details into the box at the top and hit ‘submit’.
